Found, Vaccines Prevent Heroin Addiction

A group of researchers at Scripps Research Institute claim to have discovered a vaccine to treat heroin addiction. This medicine will make up the immune system and stop the processing of heroin to avoid poisoning.

Study author, Kim Janda, said he saw a strong immune response during thedevelopment of vaccines against drugs. The scientists believe this vaccine will beeffective means of therapy for heroin addicts.

Previously, Janda and his colleagues have developed a vaccine cocaine, methamphetamine and nicotine. All drugs were intended to boost the immune system, identifying and blocking molecule drug metabolism. The vaccine is undergoing clinicaltrials.

However, heroin vaccine, also encountered several obstacles in its development. The scientists found, in the body, heroin rapidly decomposed into other substances.Scientists should make the immune system to recognize not only heroin, but alsosubstances derivatives, 6-acetylmorphine and morphine, which can easily penetrate into the brain.

Quoted from Genius Beauty, heroin vaccine was successfully tested in mice. Aftervaccination, animals with heroin addiction has shown a desire to decrease drugconsumption and lower levels of intoxication
